Go with the flow

There is always something new and exciting to see off my deck whether it be signs of turtles nesting on my beach, pelicans patrolling the shoreline or an occasional glimpse of Tortola and the other islands to my north. The other day the surprise was a visit by some dolphins, what looked like a mother and two youngsters who stayed right by her side. The winds were from the south so the sea was still with a gentle break at the shore. They must have found something to keep their attention because they stayed in the same area near the reef for over an hour. Finally a snorkeler swam up and scared them away. It is rare that this side of the island has calm waters as the prevailing tradewinds from the east usually stir things up. It was a real treat to be able to enjoy the liquid movements of these magnificent creatures close enough to be able to really watch them and enjoy their interactions. The dolphins remind me to go with the flow…

Dreaming big

Exactly one year ago, I arrived on St. Croix for the very first time. On the approach to the airport our plane flew through a vivid double rainbow, the most exquisite one I have ever seen. I knew right away that this is where I was meant to be and the experience has been magical ever since.
After looking at six other properties, the last one I saw immediately welcomed me and felt like home. The header is my view, looking north/northeast towards Buck Island. It never ceases to take my breath away, providing endless entertainment and wonderment.
